Lukas Mayer was born in Augsburg, Germany and discovered his great passion for theatre and music as a child.
He studied musical theatre at Folkwang University of the Arts in 2017 and had his professional debut in WEST SIDE STORY at the Dortmund Opera in 2018. He could also be seen during his training in BONIFATIUS at the Domplatz in Fulda, as well as a soloist in BOYS DON’T CRY AND GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus.
In 2019, Lukas won 1st prize in the musical/chanson category at the prestigious “Bundeswettbewerb Gesang” Berlin and was awarded a one-year scholarship from the Günther Neumann Foundation.
In the Folkwang production GRAND HOTEL he played the leading role of Baron von Gaigern and was also hired as Spider for JEKYLL UND HYDE at the Dortmund Opera.
In the 2021/22 season he returned to Theater Dortmund as Cover Gigolo and Ensemble for BERLIN SKANDALÖS and could be seen as the lawyer Aaron in CHICAGO at Theater Bonn. He created the role of Philip of Spain in the world premiere of the new musical LADY BESS at Theater St. Gallen, Switzerland and had his debut as Gabriel in NEXT TO NORMAL at the Bern Opera, followed by the role of Bob Gaudio in the German Language premiere of JERSEY BOYS at the Musical Summer Festival 2023 in Amstetten, Austria.
Afterwards he created the role of Angel Dumott Schunard in RENT, again at Theater Dortmund and in 2024 he played Jesus in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR in Nuremberg followed by the iconic role of Death in ELISABETH on a German language tour through China’s biggest cities. Most recently he recreated the role of Death in ELISABETH in Frankfurt, Munich, Oberhausen ans Berlin.
